WORCESTER – A new bar and restaurant in the Canal District, 107 Tap, at 107 Water St., hosts its ribbon cutting and official opening event on Thursday.

Jefferson Mararian, owner of 107 Tap, previously owned Blackstone Tap and ran that business for 12 years. He purchased the property that includes 107 Water St. over a year ago and renovated the former dance club with a new kitchen and tap system. The space now features televisions for sports and other events, darts, keno, and other games as well as space for private events. For weekend entertainment, he’s planning on a mix of live music on some nights, and DJ’s around an old school dance music theme on others.

Mararian is also the former owner of Union Music, and the building it resides in, at 142 Southbridge St. He is also the current president of the Canal District Alliance.

After the ribbon cutting event at 5 PM, 107 Tap hosts a Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce event starting from 5 PM to 7:30 PM that is open to the public. Registration is required through the Chamber of Commerce here). The fee for the event includes free food.

Operating hours for 107 Tap are Wednesday 3 PM to midnight and Thursday through Saturday from 3 PM to 2 AM.
