South African born artist and art therapist Belinda Thomollari is inspired by the world. From her bright, bold landscape paintings, to her adorable creatures, you can see in her work that she is “following her heart”. Words she lives by when it comes to her art.
An artist, a painter, a teacher and therapist, Belinda takes a moment from her busy schedule to share what she does, and where you can find it, as part of The 12 Days of an ARTful Holiday series.
Can you share with us a bit about your work and how you got started?
“I was born and raised just outside of Cape Town, South Africa in a world that was (and still is) brimming with color, culture and wildlife. Being surrounded by so much beauty inspired me to create, create, create, and I’ve considered myself an artist since at least age 5!
Mama America adopted me 17 years ago when I came here to study, and I am honored to be a South African American raising my family here in beautiful New England. I hold a dual Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling and Expressive Therapies with a focus on Art Therapy, and I use art to help people work through difficult times, relationships, and diagnoses so they may focus on their strengths, dreams and goals.”
Where can people interested in viewing and purchasing your work, or booking a class, find you?
‘I am following my own dream of creating and selling my art. I adore color, and animals, and capturing the essence of a moment or landscape, and the spirit of the creatures I paint. I am currently taking commissions on pet portraits and wedding paintings.
I have also teamed up with The Learning Hub https://www.learningathub.com/ in Worcester to bring expressive arts classes, “Yoga For Your Brain”, and some fun paint nights to our community.
Say “hi” if you stop by on social media! I love hearing from fellow art and nature lovers.
Use code ARTREACH for 20% off your purchase through 12/31/2017 and 10% of your purchase will go back to ArtReach as a thank you for all they do for our community.”
The 12 Days of an ARTful Holiday features local artists, crafters, and makers who work and/or live in Worcester, for 12 consecutive days of the holiday season. By letting them share their work in their own words, I am hoping readers will recognize the incredibly talented community of creatives we have here in our city, and consider their pieces and classes as a thoughtful, hand crafted, local option for gift giving this season.
