WORCESTER – A 16-year-old Worcester resident was among three arrested in Plumley Village on Saturday evening, according to the Worcester Police Department [WPD].
Around 10 PM, an officer observed a Toyota Rav 4 speeding down Laurel St in the direction of Summer St. The officer ran the car’s license plate and found that the car had an expired registration. The officer turned his lights and sirens on to stop the vehicle, which stopped at the Prime Gas Station on Summer St.
Two males immediately jumped out of the vehicle and one of them yelled to the officer that couldn’t search him. There were five males in the car and the officer told them to get back inside while he called for backup. The passengers in the vehicle acted nervous and didn’t listen to the officers commands.
As other officers arrived, the officer approached the car and removed the two males that had previously jumped out. The 16-year-old was patted down and found a loaded handgun in his waistband. The other male, 24-year-old Dobbie Wilson of 273 Mower St, had an illegal, spring-loaded switchblade knife. They were both placed under arrest.
The driver of the vehicle, Angel Otana, 19, of 23 Bourne St., gave the police a false name at first. Officers found out his real identity and it was revealed that he had outstanding warrants and didn’t have a valid driver’s license. He was placed under arrest.
The sixteen-year-old is charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and possession of ammunition without an FID card. Dobbie Wilson is charged with Carrying a Dangerous Weapon. Angel Otana is charged with Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and was also brought in for his outstanding warrants. They will all be arraigned in Worcester District Court. The Crime Scene Unit recovered the firearm.
