WORCESTER – Early Wednesday morning, a 16-year-old girl was crossing Burncoat St. when she was struck by a car.
According to the Worcester Police Dept., the female was hit by a black sedan crossing in a crosswalk at the intersection of Burncoat and Melrose streets around 6:45 AM. The black sedan didn’t stop after striking the female.
Officers with the WPD and paramedics stopped traffic and treated the female medically.
The victim was brought to a local hospital. She suffered serious injuries — including broken bones — but is expected to survive.
The Worcester PD Crash Reconstruction Unit was called to investigate and the investigation is ongoing. Worcester PD units were on the scene until 10 AM.
