WORCESTER - Governor Baker’s office announced grant awards on Wednesday, February 24, that will fund cybersecurity training for over 44,000 municipal and public school employees from 107 local government organizations across Massachusetts.
The Municipal Cybersecurity Awareness Grant Program awards include funding for training 1,600 City of Worcester employees.
The online training materials provided to municipal and public school employees include a variety of cybersecurity attack simulations that reflect malicious luring techniques commonly used by cyber criminals to gain access to IT systems and data.
These include email phishing attacks, ‘smishing’ SMS attacks, USB drop attacks and link-based, attachment-based, and data-entry attacks.
The funding for Worcester includes city employees only.
