WORCESTER – An 18-year-old male was arrested on Sunday afternoon in Worcester for breaking and entering into a home on Merrifield St.

According to the Worcester Police Department [WPD], officers responded to the home around 12 PM after residents told the police that they heard a noise in the basement and noticed damage to the lock on the cellar door.

The people in the home told the WPD that they yelled down into the basement and saw the suspect, later identified as Pedro Camacho of 20 Everett Gaylord Blvd, exiting through the basement door. The residents confronted Camacho and grabbed him by his coat to question him why he was in the house. Camacho got away and ran down Merrifield St. towards Eastern Ave.

Several officers responded to the area and found Camacho within minutes. The occupants of the home identified Camacho and he was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with Willful and Malicious Destruction of Property and Breaking and Entering in the Daytime with the Intent to Commit a Misdemeanor.

Camacho will be arraigned on Tuesday at the Worcester County District Courthouse.
