First Black Music Festival Attracts Hundreds in Worcester

WORCESTER – The first Annual Worcester Black Music Festival was held at the Worcester Common on Saturday, June 25, showcasing the best and brightest Black musicians and artists of Central Massachusetts.

The event, organized by the Uncommonwealth Group, attracted hundreds of spectators for a day of live music and shopping at dozens of booths set up by local black entrepreneurs.

The event was sponsored by several local organizations, including the Woo Sox, Hanover Insurance, UMASS, API Tech, 2Gether We Eat, and others.

Local vendors at the event included Bris Sweet Treats, Island Freeze Food, Dawu Restaurant, Maisha Design Co. and others

Festival organizers say they intend to bring the event back next year and make it an annual festival in the city.
