2 Women Face Mayhem Charges After Large Fight in Worcester

WORCESTER – A fight involving some 15 individuals outside the Wendy’s on Park Ave. led to two people hospitalized and the arrest of two women who face Mayhem and other charges.

Police responded to the report of the fight around 8 PM on Thursday, January 14, but officers did not find anyone at the scene. During the investigation, officers learned the fight blocked traffic on Park Ave. at one point.

Police believe the fight began between two juveniles. When people attempted to break up the fight, two women, Brenda Ortiz, 29, and Brenda Rosario, 47, both of Worcester, encouraged the juveniles to fight.

During the fight, police believe Ortiz attacked one person with scissors and Rosario struck another with what appeared to be a hammer.

The victims suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Police located and arrested Ortiz and Rosario on Friday, January 15. Rosario also had an outstanding warrant.

Both Ortiz and Rosario face the following charges:

  • Mayhem
  • Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (Aggravated, Serious Bodily Injury)
  • Reckless Endangerment of a Child
