WORCESTER – A 21-year-old man was stabbed on Allen Street sometime late Saturday night and early into Sunday morning.

An arrest was made shortly after the incident. According to the Worcester Police Department [WPD], 21-year-old Ismael Sawadogo of 42 S. Lenox St. was placed under arrest and charged with Assault and Batter with a Dangerous Weapon and Resisting Arrest.

The victim of the stabbing told WPD officers that he was “jumped” by several males and was stabbed while walking with a female friend. The victim was able to break free from the altercation and make it to his car. They drove and called police when they were a safe distance from the area.

The victim was treated at the scene and then transported to a nearby hospital. There were several officers at the scene and were told of the suspects physical description and possible street name. One of the officers present recognized the street name of Sawadogo.

The officer went to Sawadogo’s residence and found him sitting in a car with several others both in and outside the car. When the officer approached the vehicle, Sawadogo attempted to walk away and ignored the officer’s commands to stop.

The officer engaged in a brief struggle with Sawadogo, but was able to eventually place him under arrest.

The victim received a non-life threatening injury and was treated and eventually released.

This investigation is ongoing as investigators are working on the identities of the other males that were involved in the altercation.
