WORCESTER – Early Tuesday morning, a 22-year-old livery driver was stabbed during a fight with a passenger.

Worcester Police Department [WPD] Investigators were able to identify a person of interest. However, a search for the suspect has provided negative results.

WPD officers responded to the area of 214 East Mountain Street around 7:35 AM for a reported stabbing of a livery driver. Upon the officers arrival, they met with the victim who stated that he went to the address this morning to pick up a fare.

According to the WPD, the victim told the officers that the male suspect entered his vehicle and asked to go to a specific address. The victim recognized the suspect from a previous incident about a year ago.

When the victim recognized the suspect, he asked him to exit the vehicle and refused to transport him to his destination. The suspect refused to leave the vehicle. The driver got out of the car and opened the rear door and told the suspect to get out. When the suspect got out, he pushed the driver and a fight ensued. During the fight, the suspect stabbed the driver and then ran off.

Worcester EMS arrived at the scene and treated the victim and then transported him to a nearby hospital. The victim is in good condition.
