25-year-old Worcester Man Pleads Guilty to Being Felon with Firearm

WORCESTER – A 25-year-old Worcester man plead guilty on Wednesday in federal court to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Franklin Safo-Agyare, pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition and will be sentenced on Sept. 26.

Safo-Agyare faces up to ten years in prison, up to three years of supervised release, and will have to pay a fine of $250,000, according to the Dept. of Justice.

Along with eight others, Safo-Agyare was charged in Jan. 2018 in connection with illegal activity near the Mildred C. Hailey Apartments in Jamaica Plain following a two year investigation. Earlier this month, Safo-Agyare sold a Jennings Model J22 .22 caliber pistol with five rounds of ammunition to an individual near the apartment complex.

Safo-Agyare had previously been convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year in prison. He is the fifth defendant to plead guilty in this case.
