WORCESTER – A 31-year-old Worcester man was arrested on Saturday after robbing Dollar General on Main St.

According to the Worcester Police Department [WPD], officers were dispatched on Saturday evening around 6:30 PM for an armed robbery at the store. The officers were told that the suspect — later identified as Vencenzo Brancaccio of Worcester — grabbed two phones and then pointed a knife at a store employee before running out of the store with the phones.

The employee told the officers that Brancaccio had been previously known to employees at Dollar General and was banned from the store.

In just ten minutes, officers were able to locate Brancaccio at the corner of Main and Beaver St. The employee identified him immediately. Brancaccio also had an oustanding warrant and was placed under arrest for Armed Robbery and the warrant. The knife was found on him. He will be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
