GoFundMe Started for Family Affected by Pilgrim Ave Fire

A GoFundMe campaign has been started for a family displaced by last week’s fire on Pilgrim Ave. in Worcester.

The GoFundMe campaign is trying to raise $3,000 to help replace items lost. As of Monday afternoon at 5 PM, the campaign had raised $370.

Worcester Restaurants, Brewery Team Up for Beer Dinner

Redemption Rock Brewing Co., Maddi’s Cookery & TapHouse, and The Queen’s Cup are teaming up for a five-course beer dinner to be held next month.

The dinner will take place at Maddi’s on Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 6 PM to 9 PM and will feature five different beers.

Coes Reservoir to Receive Invasive Aquatic Plant Treatment 

The application of the herbicide fluridone to Coes Reservoir will take place today — Tuesday, Sept. 24.

The City of Worcester is advising all persons to stay out of the water, discontinue boat use and fishing, and keep their pets out of the water for the day of the treatment, so as not to interfere with herbicide application.

Additionally, use of water from Coes Reservoir for irrigation should be discontinued for the next 60 days. Beaches will be posted prior to the application. The water will be safe for all uses apart from irrigation on Wednesday, Sept. 25.

Worcester Chamber Music Society to Start 14th Season this Weekend

The Worcester Chamber Music Society (WCMS) ushers in its 14th season with “American Expressions”—a pair of concerts celebrating music about and inspired by North, South, and Central America.

Worcester District 4 City Councilor Sarai Rivera will begin the program by reading Maya Angelou’s “Human Family,” a poem which inspired the first piece of the evening, Valerie Coleman’s meditative Fanmi Imèn.
