In today’s edition – January 21, 2021 – Notre Dame Academy to screen production of ‘Pets in Quarantine,’ the Worcester Red Sox are hosting a virtual chat with Boston’s Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom, the City of Worcester DPW is hiring, Cornerstone Bank made a significant donation to area United Way organizations and MassHire has three virtual job fairs coming up.

 

Worcester Red Sox Virtual Event with Chaim Bloom

The Worcester Red Sox series of virtual events called “Baseball Chat about Balls & Bats” hosts Boston Red Sox Chief Baseball Officer, Chaim Bloom, on Monday January 25, at 7 PM.

The virtual event is exclusive for Worcester Red Sox Booster Club members. The Booster Club is free to join on the Polar Park website.

Bloom will discuss the latest on the Red Sox Major League club and farm system, and answer baseball questions from attendees.

After joining the Booster Club you can register for the event.

 

City of Worcester DPW is Hiring

The Worcester Department of Public Works and Parks is taking applications for a Public Works Laborer/ Motor Equipment Operator.

Candidates for the position must have a valid Commercial Drivers License [CDL] Class A or Class B and must register on the Civil Service list for Motor Equipment Operator as soon as possible.

The typical hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4 PM, but may require working any 8 hours in a 24-hour period across any five days of the week.

Notre Dame Academy Streaming Two Performances of ‘Pets in Quarantine’

The students at Notre Dame Academy are releasing two performances of Pets in Quarantine, a look at eight confused “pets” telling their stories of being in confinement while their humans are staying home and practicing social distancing to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The production is directed by Nicole Lian. The first production is tonight, January 21, followed by the second production on Friday, January 22. Both shows start at 7:30 PM.

MassHire Hosting 3 Virtual Job Fairs Over Next 4 Weeks

Beginning next week, MassHire Central Career Centers is hosting three virtual job fairs for prospective employees and employers in all fields.

Each virtual fair takes place from 10 AM to 2 PM on Premier Virtual.

The first fair is Thursday, January 28. Anyone interested in attending this fair must register by this Friday, January 22.

Cornerstone Bank Donates Over $54,000 to United Way

Cornerstone Bank announced on Wednesday, January 20, that its annual employee gift and matching contribution to the United Way totaled $54,196.62 this year.

Cornerstone Bank exceeded its yearly goal and last year’s contribution.

The donations will support United Way of Central Massachusetts, serving 30 cities and towns, United Way of Central Massachusetts, serving Southbridge, Sturbridge and Charlton and United Way of Webster Dudley.
