Mass DPH Asking Residents to Fill Out COVID-19 Community Impact Survey

The Massachusetts Department of Health [DPH] has launched a COVID-19 Community Impact Survey and are asking residents to fill it out.

The survey aims to provide the DPH with a better understanding of the needs of residents in order to help with the state’s support efforts and resources.

The survey is available in 7 different languages.

National Guard Members Called Up for COVID-19 Response Eligible for Bonus

The Veterans Bonus Division of the Office of the State Treasurer has launched a new $500 bonus for Massachusetts National Guard members activated to support operations responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Service members and Veterans can check their eligibility at VetsBonusMA.com. Those eligible can apply for bonuses and upload supporting documentation on the site.

Individuals approved for a bonus can expect a check mailed 10 days after being approved.

 

Worcester CEO Named MA Small Business Person of the Year

The Small Business Administration has named Brian Geisel, founder and CEO of Geisel Software, the 2020 Small Business Person of the Year for Massachusetts.

Brian Geisel earned the recognition for growing revenue and expanding into government contracting.

Geisel Software, at the Worcester Business Center on Millbrook St., is a custom software development firm with a passion for innovation and special expertise in developing embedded and application software solutions for the robotics and medical device industries as well as government agencies.

Geisel will be recognized at the annual SBA Massachusetts Small Business Week Awards event held virtually at 9 AM today.

 

Worcester Regional Research Bureau Forum

The Worcester Regional Research Bureau hosting a forum on Tuesday, September 29, highlighting key data from of the Worcester Almanac: 2020.

The panelists include:

  • Jennifer Davis Carey, Worcester Education Collaborative
  • Peter Dunn, City of Worcester
  • Barbara Fields, Greater Worcester Community Foundation

The forum starts at 4 PM and will be followed by short networking breakout groups, moderated by WRRB Board members.

 

Music Worcester Presents Joshua Bell with Alessio Bax

Joshua Bell, one of the most celebrated violinists of his era, will perform a Worcester Music virtual event at Mechanics Hall with pianist Alessio Bax on October 16.

The performance will include:

  • Beethoven Violin Sonata No.7 in C minor, Op.30
  • Saint-Saëns Violin Sonata No. 1 in D minor, Op. 75
  • G. Tartini Violin Sonata in G minor, B. g5 “Devil’s Trill Sonata”
