QCC Offers Assistance to Becker Students
Quinsigamond Community College responded to the news of the closing of Becker College on Monday, March 29, by enabling a simple transfer of credits for students to continue their education.
QCC and Becker College reached a transfer agreement and memorandum of understanding on the same day Trustees at Becker announced the College will close.
QCC will enable and assist students to transition from comparable Becker programs into the following QCC programs:
- Associate Degree in Business Administration Transfer
- Associate Degree in Criminal Justice
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education Birth – Eight Years Old
- Associate Degree Nurse Education
- Associate Degree Nurse Education – Evening
In addition to the programs listed in the MOU, many of Becker’s programs can easily transfer to QCC.
Ninety-Nine Restaurant & Pub Hiring Across New England
Ninety-Nine Restaurant & Pub has announced a plan to hire over 1,000 individuals across all restaurants in New England and upstate New York by May 3.
Ninety-Nine is seeking qualified and professional candidates that are passionate about the culinary world, enjoy a fast-paced environment and demonstrate exceptional service skill.
Positions vary and include part-time and full-time roles.

MA Awards over $1.8 Million to Veterans in 2020
Massachusetts State Treasurer’s Deborah Goldberg’s Veterans Bonus Division announce that in 2020 they processed nearly 4,000 bonuses and awarded $1,850,451 in benefits to Veterans across Massachusetts.
The Division also oversaw creation of a new COVID-19 Bonus for Massachusetts National Guard members. That program paid out $838,000 to over 1,500 service members beginning in November.
The Veterans’ Bonus Division distributes bonuses for eligible active duty, discharged, and deceased Massachusetts veterans who served during various conflicts. The State Treasurer’s Office has administered the state bonus program since the World War I bonus in 1919 was awarded to Massachusetts individuals who served in the armed forces during that period. No Increase in Gas Prices Since Last Week in MA
AAA Northeast reports changes in gas prices across the region on a weekly basis.
Massachusetts’s average gas price is the same as last week at $2.76 per gallon. That price is the 12 cents higher than a month ago ($2.64), and 65 cents higher than March 29, 2020 ($2.11).
Massachusetts’s average gas price is 10 cents lower than the national average.
AAA Northeast’s March 29 survey of fuel prices found the current national average to be 2 cents lower than last week, averaging $2.88 a gallon. Today’s national average price is 15 cents higher than a month ago ($2.71), and 84 cents cheaper than this day last year ($2.02).
