In today’s daily 5 Things You Need to Know feature, ThisWeekinWorcester.com explores five important items and stories that Worcester and Central Massachusetts residents should keep a close eye on.

In today’s edition – Monday, May 17 –  All Systems Go is ready to open next week, Green Hill Farm opens on Tuesday, the City will begin annual inspections of multi-family homes next month, there’s a Hazardous Waste Day scheduled for this weekend and there are several opportunities for Worcester students ages 12 and older to get vaccinated this week.

 

2021 Inspections of Multi-unit Homes to Start in June

The City of Worcester has over 6,500 multi-family buildings with three or more units and each one is subject to an annual inspection by the Department of Inspectional Services in accordance with the State Board of Building Regulations and Standards.

Inspections are required for occupancy permits and to ensure that the building is in compliance with safety and building codes.

Inspections are expected to begin before the end of June and property owners should be on the lookout for communication from the Department of Inspectional Services.

Household Hazardous Waste Day is Saturday

The next Household Hazardous Waste Day is scheduled for June 5.

All Systems Go is opening soon at 225 Shrewsbury St. in Worcester,. The full bar and lounge built for Esportsis opening for a private event on May 26.

Green Hill Farm to Open on Tuesday

For the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Green Hill Farm at Green Hill Park will reopeon on Tuesday.

The park will be open Tuesdays to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. The farm is closed on Mondays.

Face coverings and masks must be worn when social distancing can’t be maintained. The animals at the farm can’t be fed by visitors.

 

Walk-in Appointments this Week at Worcester’s Equity Vaccine Clinics

The City of Worcester’s Mobile Equity Vaccine Clinics are welcoming resident to walk-in for vaccinations at three clinics this week:

  • Saturday, May 15: YMCA Walk-up Clinic, 766 Main St., 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Monday, May 17: Taco Caliente Pop-up Clinic, 266 Chandler St., 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 18: Student Vaccinations, Worcester Technical High School, 1 Skyline Drive, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.*
  • Wednesday, May 19: Student Vaccinations, North High School, 140 Harrington Way, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.*
  • Wednesday, May 19: Student Vaccinations, South High Community School, 170 Apricot St., 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.*
  • Thursday, May 20: Student Vaccinations, UPCS/Claremont Academy, 15 Claremont St. and 12 Freeland St., 8 .m. to 1 p.m.*
  • Thursday, May 29: Student Vaccinations, Doherty Memorial High School, 299 Highland St., 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.*
  • Friday, May 21: Student Vaccinations, Burncoat High School, 179 Burncoat St., 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.*

*high school clinics are open only to students at those schools. The middle school students are for students 12-plus, with their families.

Do you qualify for Equity Clinics? You must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Black, Indigenous, People of Color or Latin individuals.
  • Individuals who do not speak English, or who prefer to speak in another language.
  • Individuals who do not have access to public transportation or who have barriers getting to a vaccination site.
  • Individuals who do not feel comfortable receiving the vaccine in a traditional Healthcare setting.
  • Individuals with disabilities and those who have access and functional needs.
  • Individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Individuals with mental illness and/or residents with substance use disorder.
