Worcester Fire Dept. to Promote Three Next Week
In a ceremony next Tuesday, June 18, at Worcester’s City Hall, three members of the Worcester Fire Department will receive promotions.
Promotions:
- Captain Gary Arpin being promoted to District Chief
- Lieutenant Christopher Kackley being promoted to Captain
- Fire Fighter Jackson Lowbridge being promoted to Lieutenant
The ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. in the Levi Lincoln Chamber of City Hall.
Pupusa Pop-Up at Greater Good Imperial Brewing
Also next Tuesday, June 18, Greater Good Imperial Brewing Co. will host a Pupusa Pop-Up from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
Pupusa is a customary El Salvadoran dish of cornmeal flatbread, typically stuffed with a variety of options including cheese and beans.
Greater Good’s pupusas will be served with cabbage slaw and homemade tomato sauce all made with local ingredients by Mami’s Kitchen.
Filling Options:
Mozzarella cheese with the magic touch or loroco flower
Zuchini and mozzarella cheese
Pork butt & bacon blended with cheese
Four Central MA High Schools Receive Early College Designation
On Thursday, Governor Charlie Baker awarded designation to early college programs at 13 high schools and eight public colleges across the Commonwealth that will enroll thousands of students next fall, giving them opportunities to study in college-level courses and earn credits before they graduate high school.
Fitchburg State University and Mount Wachusett Community College are collaborating with four Worcester County high schools – Fitchburg High School, Leominster High, Gardner High School and Sizer School – to launch the “North Central Massachusetts Early College Academy.” Students will have the option to take courses at both campuses. Students in 9th and 10th grade will take career exploration and college preparation courses before they officially enroll in the North Central Massachusetts Early College Academy at the end of 10th grade. Students will be able to choose pathways in liberal arts, healthcare, nursing, business, industrial technology and business. School officials project more than 350 students will be enrolled by the 20-21 school year.
WOOtennany and DTFO Present Deck Comedy Jam
The brilliant minds of WOOtennany and DTFO Comedy are presenting a monthly comedy show to support the WOOtenanny Comedy Festival this fall.
This month’s show will take place on Sunday, June 16 from 7 PM to 9 PM at Nick’s on Millbury St. Tickets are $5 or for a ticket and a special WOOtenanny shirt, $10.
This show is hosted by Bryan O’Donnell and features comedian John Baglio.
Make Music Day Returns to Worcester on June 21
Make Music Worcester is an annual free, outdoor day of music held on the summer solstice, June 21.
Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician — young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion — pours onto streets, parks, plazas, and porches to share their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers. All of it is free and open to the public.
Make Music Worcester invites all members of the Worcester community to join in the celebration of live music by performing, hosting musical acts, and attending the free concerts and programs.
