Public Meeting on Proposed Creation of Elm Park Neighborhood Historic District
The Worcester Historical Commission is hosting a special meeting on Thursday, Sept. 29 for a public forum on the proposed creation of a new Elm Park neighborhood historic district.

The proposed area of the local historic district includes the former Worcester campus of Becker College and neighboring residential and commercial areas located next to and east of Elm Park. The neighborhood includes many varied examples of mid-nineteenth and early-twentieth century residential architecture.

Social Media Program for Middle School Girls Starts Next Month
Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts is bringing All About MEdia to girls in grades 5-8 in Worcester County to help them navigate the complex world of social media.
The program kicks off virtually on Monday, Oct. 3 from 6 P M to 7:30 PM on Zoom for parents and children. Girls in the program will met in person on Tuesdays starting Oct. 4 until Nov. 22 from 5:30 PM to 7 PM.
All meetings will take place at the Girl Scout Leadership Center in Worcester and include dinner each week, program supplies, MEdia Journey handbook, MEdia Journey awards earned, Badge earned, and Girl Scout membership if not a current member.
Space is limited. Current Girl Scout members register by Sept. 30 here.
Interested girls who aren’t Girl Scouts can register by Sept. 30 with Brandi Maloni at [email protected] or call 508-749-3634.
The program is free. Girls do not need to be currently registered Girl Scouts to participate. The program is possible thanks to a grant from the Fred Harris Daniels Foundation and the Women’s Initiative of United Way of Central Massachusetts.
Update this Week on Worcester’s Now| Next Plan
The City of Worcester’s Planning Board will provide an update this week on Worcester’s Now| Next plan.

Worcester Now | Next is working to create a long range roadmap for the future development and evolution of the city. The 18 month-long process will conclude in May 2023.
Wachusett Mountain Hosting Job Fair on Tuesday
Wachusett Mountain is hosting an in-person job fair at the Leominster Career Center on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
The job fair is being held from 10 AM to 1 PM.
The Leominster Career Center is at 100 Erdman Way in Leominster.

SmashIt2 Opens Spooky Maze this Weekend
SmashIt2 is opening an indoor and outdoor spooky maze on Friday, Sept. 30. The spooky maze will be open every Thursday thru Sunday from 6:30 PM to 10 PM until Oct. 30.
The SmashIt2 experience includes a walking tour through themed exhibits, face painting, trunk-or-treat, food trucks and more. The Halloween attraction is designed for ages 12 and older.
The spooky maze is located at 6B Boulder Parkway in North Oxford.
