The Worcester Red Sox 2022 home opener is Tuesday, April 12 and here's some basic information about the game and a list of five things you need to know before heading to Polar Park.
WooSox President Dr. Charles Steinberg: “The weatherman is promising us a glorious, mild, sunny spring day; let’s hope he keeps his promise.”
With COVID-19 restrictions lifted, Polar Park will be at full capacity to start the new season.
Last year, Opening Day welcomed less than 2,500 fans due to the state's 25% capacity restrictions. This year, the park will be at its capacity of 9,508.
“We recognize that last year we could only welcome 25% of our capacity due to Covid-19 restrictions, and this year will be the first Opening Day with the opportunity to entertain a full house,” Steinberg said. “So we have some elements that allow more fans to experience what 2,377 felt last year. Yet we also add new elements to make Opening Day a civic holiday that we hope make people proud to gather together in the Canal District to celebrate spring and celebrate Worcester."
Advice: get their early.
The opening of a 300 car parking garage across from the park on Madison Street should help improve the area's sometimes problematic parking situation.
According to the team's website, there are roughly 4,500 available parking spaces within a 15 minute walk to Polar Park.

The new WooSox Market has a “Shop, Tap, and Go” technology that allows fans who download the app to walk in, take what they want, tap a kiosk, and walk out.
This year, George’s Coney Island Hot Dogs will have their own, large concession stand on the Third Base side.
Polar Park is also welcoming "The Sausage Guy" from Fenway Park, and will have concession stands for fried dough and cotton candy.
All week long, Lock 50 and Russo Italian Restaurant owner Ed Russo will be serving up authentic meatballs, sausages and cannolis at the Taste of Worcester on Summit Street.
If you're looking to get your hands on some WooSox gear before the first pitch on Tuesday, the team store opens at 10 AM.
The WooSox team store is located inside the park with entrances facing Madison Street.
Want your gear earlier? Stop in on Monday from 9 AM to 5 PM.
Can't make it to Opening Day? No problem. The WooSox play six games at home against Lehigh Valley starting Tuesday through Sunday.
The WooSox don't return home until April 26 when they host the Buffalo Bison.
