Free COVID-19 Testing this Week in Worcester
The UMass Memorial Health Care COVID-19 Equity Task Force and the City of Worcester are offering free, walk-up COVID-19 testing this week.
The testing will take place indoors at Mercantile Center at 201 Commercial St. on the following days and times:
- Monday, April 19, 11 AM to 3 PM
- Thursday, April 22, 11 AM to 3 PM
No appointments are necessary.
Flashfood App Launches in Worcester County on Monday
The discount grocery app Flashfood will launch in Worcester County today — Monday, April 19 — at four Stop & Shop locations.
Flashfood’s goal is to reduce food waste produced by grocery stores and help people live more sustainably and shop more affordably. According to Flashfood, since the launch of their app, they’ve saved shoppers millions of dollars on grocery bills and have helped divert millions of pounds of food that would’ve otherwise ended up in landfills.
Flashfood will launch at the following locations:
- 940 West Boylston Street, Worcester
- 949 Grafton Street, Worcester
- 545 Lincoln Street, Worcester
- 100 Worcester Street, Grafton
The official Flashfood launch event is happening at 10 AM on Monday, April 19 at the Stop & Shop at 949 Grafton Street in Worcester.

Burncoat High Teacher Releases Children’s Book, “Andy the Anchor”
Worcester Public Schools teacher Kevin Cox released a children’s book last week, Andy the Anchor.
The story centers around “Andy” an anchor on his first voyage to sea and shares an inspiring message on finding your purpose in life when it matters the most.
Cox is physics teacher at Burncoat High. The book’s illustrations were done by artist Sasha Witters.
The book is available on Amazon.com in paperback or on Kindle.
Hanover Theatre Repertory Announces Cast for Julius Caesar
The Hanover Theatre Repertory has announced the cast for this summer’s production of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar.
The performance will be held outdoors this August on the Worcester Common and is being produced in partnership with the City of Worcester and with support from the Worcester Business Improvement District.
The Repertory’s casting reflects the community’s diversity and challenges long-held norms around how Shakespeare “should” look.
