City of Worcester Seasonal Employment Opportunities

The Worcester Department of Public Works and Parks has opened several seasonal positions for this summer. The positions include:

  • Assistant Seasonal Maintenance Director (Park Stewards Program)

  • Seasonal Maintenance Crew Supervisors (Park Stewards Program)
  • Seasonal Maintenance Workers (Park Stewards Program/ 20 Hours/Week)

Worcester Public Schools Early Childhood Screening

Worcester Public Schools is hosting early childhood screenings for children with special needs in the areas of language, learning, motor skills, speech and vision.

Parents of children three and four years old residing in Worcester with the likelihood of substantial special needs are encouraged to participate. The screening is by appointment only. Call 508-799-8165 to schedule an appointment or obtain more information.

Screenings will take place between 9 AM and 1 PM on the following dates:

  • Thursday, May 12 at Quinsigamond Elementary – 14 Blackstone River Road
  • Friday, May 13 at Worcester Arts Magnet – 315 St Nicholas Ave
  • Friday, May 20 at Roosevelt Elementary – 1006 Grafton St

Leadership Worcester Now Recruiting Class of 2023

The Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce is now recruiting 28 new members for the 18th year of the Leadership Worcester program.

Leadership Worcester has graduated nearly 200 professionals in the Greater Worcester area from various sectors including government, business, education, nonprofits, and the arts. These alumni are committed and connected to Worcester through residence or their place of work.

Through a nine-month experiential learning program from September to May,  Leadership Worcester participants learn about their community from a variety of angles and engage with local leaders to learn about the region’s challenges and  opportunities. Each monthly session takes participants behind the scenes of  Worcester’s diverse anchor institutions and hidden gems, allowing them to see the city through a new lens. Participants graduate in June.

More information and instructions to apply are available on the Leadership Worcester website. Applications are due in by May 30. Participants will be notified of their acceptance in July. Scholarship support is available.

Massachusetts the 4th Best State to Own an Electric Vehicle

A new study found Massachusetts is the fourth best state to own an electric vehicle.

The metrics that led to rating for Massachusetts: the state has 48.8 electric vehicle registrations per 100 million miles traveled, a 25.28 cents per kWh electricity cost, and a 0.69 fatality rate per 100 million miles traveled.

Washington, Utah and Maryland were the only states ranked higher than Massachusetts.

The study found Mississippi as the worst state to own an electric vehicle, followed by South Carolina and Louisiana.
