In today’s edition – Friday, October 15 – the UMass Cancer Walk on Sunday has around 3,000 walkers and runners registered, Congressman McGovern is hosting a round table today to discuss ARPA funds, watch the ALCS at Polar Park, ‘Langston Hughes’ Black Nativity’ tickets at Mechanics Hall go on sale today and That’s Entertainment! is having a Frankenstein Funko Pop contest.

3,000 Registered for the UMass Cancer Walk on Sunday

The UMass Cancer Walk and Run begins at Polar Park on Sunday, October 17, and travels through the downtown area and back to the park.

The doors to Polar Park open at 9:30 AM with participants expected to leave the Park at 11 AM.

Around 3,000 people have registered to take part in the event and upwards of $650,000  is expected to be raised.

Worcester Police issued a traffic advisory on Thursday for the UMass Cancer Walk and another event in the city on Sunday.

Registration ends at noon today.

McGovern Holds Worcester Roundtable on American Rescue Plan Funding

Congressman Jim McGovern is holding a roundtable on Friday, October 15, with officials from Worcester on Coronavirus State and Local Recovery Funds [CSLRF] from the American Rescue Plan Act [ARPA] as it relates to the Great Brook Valley neighborhood and its residents.

The roundtable includes City Manager Ed Augustus, Mayor Joe Petty and District City Councilor Sean Rose.

The roundtable begins at 10:30 AM at the Great Brook Valley Branch of Worcester Public Library, at 89 Tacoma Street.

Watch Game One of the ALCS at Polar Park

Polar Park opens at 6:30 PM on Friday, October 15, for fans to watch Game 1 of the ALCS between Boston Red Sox and the Houston Astros.

Fans can watch the game from within the DCU Club or on the video board .

Admission is free.

Tickets on Sale Today for ‘Langston Hughes’ Black Nativity’ at Mechanics Hall

The National Center of Afro-American Artists and Mechanics Hall present “Langston Hughes’ Black Nativity” on Saturday, November 21, at Mechanics Hall.

Tickets go on sale on Friday, October 15 at 10 AM. Tickets start at $45.

There are two shows on Nov. 21 — a 3:30 PM matinee and an evening performance at 7:30 PM.

That’s Entertainment! Hosting Frankenstein Funko Pop Contest
