5 Things You Need to Know Today in Worcester – October 7

In today’s daily 5 Things You Need to Know feature, ThisWeekinWorcester.com explores five important items and stories that Worcester and Central Massachusetts residents should keep a close eye on.

In today’s edition – Friday, October 7 – Holy Cross football hosts Bucknell at Polar Park on Saturday, WRTA bus route changes for the holiday weekend, a new Red Sox mural will be revealed today, Massachusetts State Police are hiring for civilian positions and tickets for Rod Wave at the DCU Center go on sale today.

Holy Cross Football at Polar Park on Saturday

Holy Cross football will host Bucknell for a 4 PM kickoff on Saturday. Limited tickets remain available here or by calling (508) 500-1000.

A limited number of tickets will also be available at the Polar Park box office on Saturday.

General admission/loop tickets are $15, end zone seats are $25, sideline seats are priced at $35, and Worcester Wall seats are $35.

Fixed Bus Route Changes on Monday

The Worcester Regional Transit Authority (WRTA) advises residents that due to the holiday on Monday, Oct. 10, fixed bus route and paratransit van service will operate on a Saturday schedule.

All routes are effected with the following exceptions:

  • Routes 29, 33, 42, and community shuttles will operate on a regular weekday schedule;
  • Route 19 will operate on a modified Saturday holiday schedule

New Red Sox Mural Will Be Unveiled in Worcester Today

A new 100 foot mural near Polar Park depicting key moments in modern Red Sox history, most notably the 2004 playoffs, will be unveiled near Polar Park today. It includes David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia, Pedro Martinez, Dave Roberts and others.

The mural was created by Artifakt Studios, whose creative director, Ryan Gardell, also created the Legends of Canal District mural on Summit Street.

The mural is set to be unveiled today – Friday, Oct 7 – at 1 PM in the Canal District at 156 Washington St.

Massachusetts State Police Hiring for Civilian Positions

The Massachusetts State Police is hiring for several civilian positions including Dispatchers, Mechanics, and Radio Maintenance Technicians at locations across the state, including Holden and Framingham.

Tickets for Rod Wave at DCU Center on Sale Today

Rod Wave brings the Beautiful Mind Tour to the DCU Center on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 8 PM. This will be the only New England date on the tour.
