Worcester's Inaugural Exercises Go Virtual Tonight

Worcester's inaugural exercises will be held virtually tonight and streamed live starting at 5:30 PM on the city's website, on the city's Facebook page and on channel 192 on Spectrum cable.

Mayor Joe Petty and members of the city council and school committee will be sworn-in for their two-year term.

The event will be held at Mechanics Hall on Main Street.

Four Free COVID-19 Testing Clinics at Mercantile Center this Week

There are four free COVID-19 testing clinics at Mercantile Center in downtown Worcester this week.

Clinics are operated by UMass Memorial Health and will be held Monday to Thursday. Walk-ins are welcome.

  • Monday, Jan. 3 -- 11 AM to 4 PM
  • Tuesday, Jan 4 -- 10 AM to 3 PM
  • Wednesday, Jan 5. -- 9 AM to 12 PM
  • Thursday, January 6 -- 10 AM to 3 PM 

Vaccine Equity Clinics all Month Long at Worcester Public Library

The Worcester Public Library is hosting walk-in Vaccine Equity Clinics at the Library's Main Branch, 3 Salem Square, on Wednesdays from 11 AM to 7 PM and Saturdays from 11 AM to 5 PM.

If you get your vaccine at one of the Worcester Public Library vaccination clinics, show your new vaccine card to the staff at the library's Welcome Desk and they will waive any WPL lost items.

Rocco's Doughnut Co. Hiring for Worcester Location

Specialty doughnut shop, Rocco's Doughnut Company -- with locations in Millbury and Westborough -- announced it will be opening its third shop on West Boylston Street in Worcester in early 2022.

Rocco's is looking for part-time doughnut finishers, doughnut cutter/fryers and front end/baristas. Weekend and weekday availability is a must for these positions. Interested candidates can send a resume to [email protected]

The new location at 947 West Boylston Street is expected to open in February.

Go Mooing for Mrs. Moriconi's Ice Cream

Local ice cream shop Mrs. Moriconi's -- which just opened its first brick and mortar shop at 1116 Pleasant Street in Worcester -- has started a social media contest. And it involves mooing like a cow.

Here's how it works: 

  • Post a video of your best Moo on Facebook or Instagram
  • Follow Mrs. Moriconi's on Facebook or Instagram, tag Mrs. Moriconi's in the post and use the hashtag "#MooingforMrsMoriconi
  • Employees will pick their five favorites and those five favorites will advance to a public voting to pick the winner
  • The winner receives $50 in Mrs. Moriconi's gift certificates
  • All mooing submissions must be posted by January 15.
