City of Worcester officials are urging residents to take steps to ensure a safe Fourth of July Weekend for all. The city is reminding the public that the use of fireworks, bon fires, and fire pits are illegal in Worcester and police will be taking notice.

In the case of excessive heat, the city is asking the public to take the following precautions:

  • stay hydrated
  • looks for signs of heat-related illness
  • take breaks from strenuous activity and direct exposure to the sun
  • Check on elderly neighbors
  • Do not leave children or pets unattended in a parked car

The City’s spray parks, beaches, and pool will open on July 1. Swimming at any facility not staffed by lifeguards is not recommended.

The city is encouraging residents to attend Worcester’s annual Independence Day celebration and fireworks at East Park on Shrewsbury Street on June 30.
