City to Present Paul J. Moosey Award Today
The City of Worcester is hosting the second annual Paul J. Moosey Award Ceremony at 12 PM today at City Hall to present the 2022 Paul J. Moosey Department of Public Works & Parks Employee of the Year Award.
The award is named for Paul J. Moosey, former commissioner of the Department of Public Works & Parks, who passed away in 2020.
The 2021 award recipient was Jonathan Gervais, the environmental manager of the Department of Public Works and Parks.
The public is welcome to attend today’s ceremony and meet this year’s recipient of the 2022 Paul J. Moosey Department of Public Works & Parks Employee of the Year Award.
Piccadilly Plaza on Conservation Commission Agenda Tonight
The proposed redevelopment of Piccadilly Plaza, which includes tearing down all existing buildings and putting up three commercial buildings, including a Starbucks and a bank with a drive-thru, goes in front of the city’s Conservation Commission tonight.
The proposal calls for Terra Brasilis restaurant and a two-story retail space to be torn down.
The meeting is at 5:30 PM in the Levi Lincoln Chamber at City Hall.

Preservation Awards Ceremony is Wednesday
Preservation Worcester and the Worcester Historical Commission will present the Worcester Preservation Awards at 5:45 PM on Wednesday at the Park View Room at 230 Park Ave.
The awards show highlights the outstanding preservation, rehabilitation, and restoration projects that bring new life to historic buildings and foster exciting development in the city.
The ceremony is free for the public to attend.

Friday is Last Day for Vendors to Apply for Out to Lunch
The vendor application deadline for this year’s Out to Lunch Festival and Farmers Market series on the Worcester Common is Friday, May 20.
The city is encouraging crafters, artisans, local farmers, food trucks, local restaurants, and local nonprofits to apply.
The festival will take place on three Thursdays this summer – Aug, 4, Aug. 18 and Sept. 1 – from 11 AM to 2 PM.

Big Brother Big Sister Picking Up Donations in Worcester
The Big Brother Big Sister Foundation has a truck scheduled for pickups in the Worcester area on Friday, May 20.
Founded in 1904, Big Brother Big Sisters is the nation’s largest donor- and volunteer-supported mentoring network, Big Brother Big Sister makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 5 through young adulthood in communities across the country.
Foundation pickups accept a range of items, including clothing, certain household items, books and other items. See the full list of acceptable items here.
