In today’s edition – Thursday, November 3 – the Worcester Regional Airport celebrates its 1 millionth passenger, Ziggy Bombs is hiring kitchen and food truck staff, Quinsigamond Community College opens a site for the state approved test for Certified Nursing Assistants, Anna Maria College and Boston Mutual create a new internship program and Dunkin’ announced its holiday lineup.

Worcester Airport Celebrates 1 Millionth Passenger

Local, state and federal leaders joined leaders from the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) to celebrate the one millionth passenger at Worcester Regional Airport on Tuesday.

Delta Air Lines awarded two round trip tickets to the traveller who became the one millionth passenger.

The airlines, JetBlue Airways, Delta Air Lines and American Airlines, currently operate at Worcester Airport. They combine to provide daily service to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), and New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA).

Speakers at Tuesdays celebration included Congressman Jim McGovern, Lt. Governor Karyn Polito, State Senator Anne Gobi, State Representative John Mahoney, State Representative Jim O’Day, Worcester County Sheriff and Chairman of the Massport Board of Directors Lew Evangelidis, Acting City Manager Eric Batista, Mayor Joe Petty, and Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Tim Murray.

Ziggy Bombs Hiring Kitchen and Food Truck Staff

Ziggy Bombs, which serves specialty steak and cheese subs, is interviewing for multiple positions from Nov. 7 to Nov. 11. Positions available include grill cooks, sandwich prep, counter and prep staff for its new Franklin Street location.

Ziggy Bombs is also hiring for food truck positions including truck leader, grill cook, sandwich and prep staff.

QCC Opens CNA Testing Site to Assist with Shortage

Quinsigamond Community College’s Healthcare and Workforce Development Center opened its labs to offer Certified Nursing Assistant testing last week to help ease the backlog of hundreds of people in Massachusetts were waiting to take the test to become a CNA.

QCC tested over 100 people and those who successfully pass the state-approved test will be eligible for employment or continue employment in healthcare settings as defined by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

In early August 2022, QCC was awarded close to $500,000 in Skills Capital Grant funding, which was used to update three nursing labs with state-of-the-art equipment.

Anna Maria College and Boston Mutual Life Insurance Partner on Internship Program

Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company, headquartered in Canton, have partnered with Anna Maria College in Paxton to create an internship program for undergraduate and graduate students. The program will provide Anna Maria students with opportunities for paid internships and real world business experience.

Students will be required to interview for newly created positions in Boston Mutual’s Distribution & Business Development, Customer Experience, Human Resources, Corporate Communications, and Enterprise Risk Management departments.

The agreement includes a commitment for company representatives to appear as guest speaking sessions with Anna Maria’s Global Business Club. Boston Mutual Paul Quaranto Jr. will personally lead two of the sessions.

Dunkin’ Announces its Holiday Lineup

Dunkin’ is kicking off the holiday season with a new line-up to fuel that includes its holiday menu and festive cups.

Items introduced for the holidays include:

  • Cookie Butter Cold Brew – slow-steeped, ultra-smooth cold brew with notes of sweet brown sugar and baked cookie flavors topped with creamy Cookie Butter Cold Foam;
  • Cookie Butter Donut – a classic yeast donut shell with cookie butter buttercreme filling, topped with maple-flavored icing and a sprinkling of crushed cookies;
  • Pancake Wake-Up Wrap – a portable, pillowy pancake featuring a hint of sweet maple flavor, filled with egg, melted cheese, sausage or bacon, and served with a side of syrup (also available without meat);
  • Peppermint Mocha Signature Latte – Available hot or iced, features mocha balanced with cooling peppermint, topped with whipped cream, mocha drizzle, and a dusting of hot chocolate powder; and
  • Toasted White Chocolate Signature Latte – a creamy-rich white chocolate flavor in a signature latte topped with whipped cream, caramel drizzle, and cinnamon sugar.
