In today’s edition – Thursday, July 21 – Quinsigamond Community College is hosting a registration event this weekend, the 2022 Thomas S. Green Public Service Award winners are honored,  the WooSox will host a women in sports event on Saturday, Off the Rails is hiring and Insomnia Cookies is offering Cookie’wiches as buy one, get one free through July 31.

QCC Registration and COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic

Quinsigamond Community College hosts a registration event and free COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic on Saturday, July 23, from 9 AM to 1 PM at the Harrington Learning Center.

The event is intended to enable those who have jobs or family responsibilities that make it difficult to visit campus during the week.

Participants can apply to the college, talk to counselors, apply for financial aid, and register for classes all in one place in the Harrington Learning Center.

For those who can’t physically attend the event, please call (508) 853-3200 and arrange a virtual enrollment session or access QCC’s Admissions Events webpage  to sign-up for the event. While walk-ins are welcome to this event, registration is preferred, and those who register will receive a free QCC gift bag.

Thomas S. Green Public Service Award Recipients Honored

The Worcester Regional Research Bureau honored the five recipients of the 2022 Thomas S. Green Public Service Awards. The award honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions to public service.

Those honored:

  • Joseph Carpenter is the Head Customer Service Representative in the Treasurer & Collector’s Office in the Department of Administration & Finance.
  • Matthew Moison is the Director of Golf at the Green Hill Municipal Golf Course.
  • Muaweya “Zack” Razzaw is a Network Administrator for the Information Technology Department at the Worcester Public Schools.
  • Connor Robichaud is the Regional Projects Coordinator and Principal Planner for the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission (CMRPC).
  • Cara Stone is the Executive Assistant to the Executive Director for the Worcester Public Library.

Worcester Red Sox Host Women in Sports Day

The WooSox will host a free panel in Polar Park’s DCU Club from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM on Saturday, July 23.

The panel includes influential women in the sports industry, such as

  • Jen Toland, a sports reporter for the Telegram & Gazette for more than 30 years;
  • Kate Myshrall, who covered the Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, National Football League, and Summer Olympics for 13 years as a sports reporter for NESN and NBC;
  • Boston Renegades star Allison Cahill, who is the first quarterback to lead a women’s football team to seven national titles;
  • Professor Libby O’Hara, who directs the sport management program at Assumption University; and
  • Katie Wickstrom, a former captain of the Santa Clara University women’s rowing team.

The event is free, registration is required.

Off the Rails is Hiring

Off the Rails, which features southern cuisine with a Nashville theme at 90 Commercial Street in Worcester, is hiring.

The restaurant has positions at the front and in the kitchen.
