In today’s edition – Thursday, September 23 – the ballot order for November’s municipal election is decided, five Worcester Bravehearts were selected for the FCBL All-League teams, a free lacrosse clinic for kids is being held at Worcester State University, Blackstone National Golf Club in Sutton is hiring and Worcester Public Schools celebrates multilingual students and families tonight at Polar Park.

Ballot Order for Municipal Election Chosen

The city of Worcester’s Board of Election Commission met Wednesday night to draw the ballot placements for candidates on November’s municipal ballot.

Here is the order of the candidates:

Five Worcester Bravehearts Receive All-League Honors

The Futures Collegiate Baseball League [FCBL] announced it’s All-League First and Second teams on Tuesday, September 21, which include five Worcester Bravehearts.

Jack Choate, of Grafton, a pitcher at Assumption University, received First-Team honors. Choate set a new FCBL single-season record with 82 strikeout during the Bravehearts regular season.

Four Bravehearts players received All-League Second team honor:

  • Dennis Colleran, closer, of North Attleboro (Northeastern University), had a 1.11 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 24 innings.
  • Alex Amalfi, pitchers, of Ashland (UMass Boston), finished the season with a 3.37 ERA in 53 innings pitched.
  • Gavin Noriega, first base (Marist), hit .359 with 4 home runs and 34 RBI.
  • Randy Flores, second base (Franklin Pierce), the Bravehearts leadoff hitter, hit .310, set a Worcester single season record with five triples and stole a team-high 20 bases.

Free Youth Lacrosse Clinic at Worcester State University

 

Bandits Youth Lacrosse hosts a free clinic for boys and girls in grades 1 to 8 on Saturday, September 25, at Coughlin Field on the campus of Worcester State University, at 486 Chandler Street in Worcester.

The clinic provides all equipment. Instructors include Worcester State University coaches, students, and other area coaches. The clinic is instructional, not competitive, and is coed. First time players are welcome.

The clinic is from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Pre-registration is required and available on the Bandits Youth Lacrosse website or on the day of the clinic between 5 PM and 5:30 PM.

Blackstone National Golf Club is Hiring

Blackstone National Golf Club, the golf course and restaurant at 227 Putnam Hill Road in Sutton, is hiring waitstaff and valets for its newest venue, The Barn.

The Barn is an events and functions facility.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Experience is appreciated but not required. Shifts are mostly nights and weekends.

Worcester Public Schools Celebrates Multilingualism at Polar Park

Worcester Public Schools is hosting a themed-night at Polar Park celebrating multilingual students and families tonight — Thursday, September 23.

More information is available at the Worcester Public Schools website. The event starts at 6:30 PM with a general admission of $9.
