In today’s edition – Wednesday, September 1 – the Worcester Board of Elections Commissioners is meeting on Wednesday, U-Haul is moving in to the former Kmart location in Webster, the 21st Harvey Ball is postponed, Rocco’s Doughnuts announces its back to school menu and Table Talk Pies has a special offer for teachers.

Worcester Board of Elections Meeting on Wednesday

The Worcester Board of Election Commissioners meeting is on Wednesday, September 1, at Worcester City Hall inside the Levi Lincoln Chamber at 455 Main Street.

The board has three discussions on the agenda related to early voting. They include discussing the 150 foot rule for in-person early voting, collecting mail in ballots on election night and tabulating vote by mail ballots.

Commissioners will also discuss the 2020 census and re-districting in Worcester.

U-Haul Self-Storage to Open in Former Webster Kmart Location

The former Kmart location at 74 Worcester Road in Webster is under construction to transform into U-Haul Moving & Storage of Route 12.

The U-Haul location will offer over 750 indoor climate-controlled self-storage rooms and truck and trailer rental. The location will also feature a showroom for moving supplies and towing equipment. In the future, U-Haul expects to include hitch installation and propane sales in Webster.

U-Haul acquired the property in June and expects to open the location in October.

U-Haul will take over the 125,000 square-foot retail space of the former Kmart. The location sits on a 9.5 acre lot.

The 21st Harvey Ball Postponed Until Spring

The Worcester Historical Museum Board of Trustees and Harvey announced on Tuesday, August 31, that the 21st Harvey Ball celebration will take place in Spring 2022.

The originally scheduled date of the event was Friday, October 1. The Museum expects a new date announced soon.

Both the Trustees and Committee said caution and concern for the wellbeing of the community led to the decision to postpone.

Rocco’s Doughnut Company’s Back to School Menu

Rocco’s Doughnut Company, at 3 Colonial Drive in Westborough and 238 Millbury Avenue in Millbury, released its back to school menu with items hitting the shelves this week.

The doughnut menu includes Strawberries & Cream, Caramel Churro Ice, Maple Bacon, filled doughnuts, including Apple Streusel and Boston Cream, and chocolate and vanilla cake options.
