The team plans over 900 gifts and prizes given to fans, including several ticket packages and items from corporate sponsors of the team.

Worcester Railers Benefit for Jake Thibeault

The Worcester Railers host the Maine Mariners for a pre-season game on October 16, at 6 PM, in Worcester. There is no cost to attend, but contributions of $10 per entry are encouraged to benefit Jake Thibeault.

Thibeault, an 18-year-old hockey player and a resident of Fitchburg, suffered a severe spinal injury while playing for Milton Academy on Saturday, September 4.

A World Premiere Presented by Worcester Chamber Music Society

The Worcester Chamber Music Society [WCMS] performs the world premiere of “A Dill Pickle,” a chamber opera by local composer Matthew Malsky.

The performance, on Sunday, October 10, is at the Jean McDonough Arts Center (JMAC) BrickBox at 20 Franklin Street in Worcester.

The performance is in person and live streamed. On-Demand access is between October 17 and October 24.

Based on a short story by Katherine Mansfield (1888-1923), a modernist and feminist writer from New Zealand, “A Dill Pickle” tells the captivating story of two lovers who unexpectedly meet again.

This premiere features Cailin Marcel Manson, baritone, who has an impressive 20-year international career as a soloist, conductor, and teacher. Also featured is the dynamic Caitlin Felsman, soprano, who is a frequent soloist with ensembles in the Greater Boston Area.

Pandemic Increases Interest in Travel Insurance

A new survey by AAA found another change in how Americans are viewing travel differently in consideration of the pandemic.

AAA found that more than half of American adults have vacation related travel in their plans, with at least one overnight stay, before the end of 2022. One-third of those travelers are considering purchasing travel insurance, specifically due to the pandemic.

Access to refunds for travel when a trip needs to be cancelled is a consistent consideration of American travelers. Over two-thirds (69%) of travelers said the most important factor in considering travel insurance is “cancel for any reason” provisions to protect against lost funds.
