In today’s edition — August 20, 2019 –Insomnia Cookies is giving away free Chocolate Chunk cookies with every delivery order, Coes Reservoir will be closed on Wednesday and treated for invasive aquatic plants, the Hamilton and Plantation street areas will be sprayed tonight for mosquitoes carrying West Nile Virus, a neighborhood meeting for Worcester residents in the Indian Lake area is tonight and the EcoTarium will host a 21-plus night on Friday. 

Insomnia Cookies Giving Away Free Chocolate Chunk Cookies

The recently opened Insomnia Cookies on Water St. is giving away three free Chocolate Chunk cookies with every delivery order.

When placing an order online, you must add the three free chocolate chunk cookies promotion to your cart in order to get the deal. You can’t miss it, it’s a picture of three chocolate chunk cookies. 

The deal expires on Monday, Sept. 2. Only one offer per delivery order. 

Coes Reservoir to Be Closed on Wednesday

The City of Worcester DPW has contracted for the application of the herbicides fluridone and imazamox (trade names Sonar and Clearcast) to Coes Reservoir on Wednesday, Aug. 21.

The City is advising residents to stay out of the water, not to boat or fish, and to keep their pets out of the water for the day. 

The use of water from Coes Reservoir for irrigation should be discontinued for the next 90 days. Beaches will be posted prior to the application.

The City said Coes Reservoir will be safe for all uses apart from irrigation on Thursday.

City to Spray for Mosquitoes with West Nile Virus Tonight

West Nile Virus has been detected in mosquitoes collected in Worcester, according to the Massachusetts Department of Health. 

No human cases of West Nile have been reported.

On Tuesday, Aug. 20, the Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project [CMMCP] will spray a designated area around Plantation St. and Hamilton St. after sunset and up until midnight.

Indian Lake Neighborhood Meeting Taking Place Tonight

The Indian Lake Neighborhood Meeting is taking place tonight in Worcester and the Worcester Police Dept. is encouraging residents to attend these meetings to stay up-to-date on what’s happening in their neighborhoods and to share any concerns or questions they may have. 

The meeting is taking place at Harr Toyota at 100 Gold Star Blvd. For more information, click here. 

EcoTarium to Host 21+ Night on Friday

The EcoTarium will be hosting a 21-plus night — EcoTarium21 — this Friday, Aug. 23 at 6:30 PM.

This event’s theme is “Nightlife.”

There will be a black light glow zone, an after dark outdoor scavenger hunt, the chance to meet some of the museum’s nocturnal animals, a live planetarium show and a nighttime trivia game. 

The event will give attendees exclusive access to EcoTarium’s exhibits and will feature a cash bar with a signature, glowing cocktail and food from Edible Creations by Gerry for purchase.
