After a 5.4 percent decline in its prison incarceration rate from the end of 2017 to the end of 2018, Massachusetts had a prison population of 8,692 people, or an incarceration rate of 126 people per 100,000, according to the Vera Institute of Justice’s “People in Prison” report.

Massachusetts State Police to Introduce First Comfort Dog, Luna

The State Police have acquired their first-ever comfort dog — an English Black Labrador named Luna — who is four-months old and was bred for comfort dog work and donated to the Department.

Luna will be assigned to the State Police Employee Assistance Unit. She will be brought to any first responders the unit is working with (including state and local police officers/firefighters, etc.) as part of the post-traumatic stress decompression/healing process.

The State Police will introduce Luna at a press conference on Thursday at 11 AM at State Police General Headquarters, 470 Worcester Road, Framingham.

Worcester Has Second-Lowest Housing Market Health Index

The data experts at Wallethub have listed the City of Worcester as having the second-lowest housing market health index. Worcester ranks #171 out of 172 cities in their newest report: 2019’s Best & Worst Cities to be a Real-Estate Agent.

What is a housing market health index? Good question.

According to Wallethub, its a combination of a good amount of data that includes: Homes Sold for Gain; Sales Previous Foreclosed; Foreclosure Ratio; Zillow Home Value Index; Year over Year change; Stock of REOs (Homes Held by Banks); Mortgage Holders in Negative Equity; Underwater Homeowners Delinquent.
