50-Year-Old Worcester Man Arrested for Drug Distribution

WORCESTER – Worcester Police Vice Squad reported to Gates Lane on Tuesday, July 21, to serve a warrant and saw the subject of the investigation, Mark Economou, 50, of Worcester, get into a vehicle and leave the residence.

Police conducted a stop near Main Street and Sylvan Street and ordered Economou out of the vehicle. He sped up, jumped a curb and struck an unmarked police vehicle with an officer inside. After the crash, officers extracted Economou from the vehicle.

According to Police, Economou struggled with police and repeatedly reached toward his wristband and also attempted to stomp on something inside the vehicle in an apparent attempt to destroy evidence.

After Economou was in custody, police found cocaine inside the vehicle. Inside his residence, police found what appeared to be cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and packaging materials.

Economou faces charges of:

  • Assault with a Dangerous Weapon,
  • Possession of a Class B Substance with Intent to Distribute
  • Possession of a Class B Substance
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Disturbing the Peace
  • Operating to Endanger
  • Tampering with Evidence.
