According to data released by the White House on Tuesday, around 813,000 individuals with student loan debt in Massachusetts will see relief under a plan that provides up to $20,000 in debt relief to Pell Grant recipients and up to $10,000 to other borrowers.
About 401,200 of those eligible in Massachusetts were Pell Grant recipients.
The White House said it expects over 40 million borrowers to be eligible for student debt relief under the plan. It also says nearly 90% of relief dollars will go to those earning less than $75,000 per year.
