After Mild Weekend, Snow Expected on Monday

Plenty of sunshine is expected for This Saturday Afternoon with temperatures in the mid 40s. A gusty north to northwest wind will make it feel colder though with wind chill temperatures in the 30s expected.

Clear skies are expected Saturday Night with low temperatures between 20 and 25 Degrees.

Lots of sunshine is expected on Sunday with much less wind. High temperatures Sunday will be between 40 and 45 Degrees.

Accumulating Snow Expected Monday Afternoon & Monday Night Across Central Mass: It looks likely that accumulating snow will occur across much of Central Mass on Monday Afternoon & Monday Night. The weather setup for this snowfall will be an area of high pressure located over Nova Scotia, which will help to lock in colder air over the area. At the same time this is happening, a strengthening area of low pressure will track from near the New Jersey coast on Monday afternoon to near Nantucket later Monday night.

Snow will overspread Central Mass by early Monday afternoon and then continue throughout the afternoon on Monday. The snow will then continue into Monday night before coming to an end late Monday night. I do think that rain will mix in with the snow at times across the lower elevations of Central Mass while all snow occurs in the Worcester Hills.

My forecast snow accumulation map for Monday afternoon and Monday night can be found below. It should be noted that this is expected to be a heavy, wet snow & tree branches and power lines will likely be sagged down by the wet snow. This means that some tree damage and some power outages are possible, especially in the higher elevations.

If that wasn’t enough, I’m watching the possibility of another coastal storm for Wednesday. At this point, it is way too early to pinpoint details, but there is the possibility that a snow-rain mix could occur in the low elevations with a wet accumulating snow possibly occurring in the higher elevations during the day on Wednesday. It’s something to certainly keep an eye on & I will keep you updated as needed.
