WORCESTER – After a three-day trial, a Worcester man was found guilty on Thursday of first-degree murder in the 2019 killing of his ex-girlfriend in Worcester.
According to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr., Antonio Lucas, 43, was found guilty by a Worcester Superior Court jury in the murder of his ex-girlfriend Cleucilene Alves da Silva.
“Our prosecution team of Assistant District Attorneys Tiffany Scanlon, Tara Nechev and Nathaniel Beaudoin, did an exceptional job presenting this case and working to obtain justice for the victim,” arly said. “I want to thank the Worcester Police Department Officers and Detectives for their thorough and diligent work and Victim Witness Advocate Maria Deyette for being with the victim’s family throughout the case.”
Alves da Silva, 41, was killed by Lucas on May 31, 2019, while inside a home at 27 County St. in Worcester. Alves da Silva died after being stabbed multiple times by Lucas. The couple was living together at the County Street home. Lucas was arrested by police at the scene.
The first-degree murder conviction carries a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole.
Lucas will be sentenced on Sept. 7.
