WORCESTER – The first graduating class of Assumption University’s Froelich School of Nursing received their lapel pins this week during a commencement ceremony, welcoming them to the nursing profession.
Their commencement took place during during National Nurses Week, which is May 6 through May 12.
According to the university, all 19 graduates have accepted positions or are entertaining multiple offers as registered nurses at a range of health care organizations that include UMass Memorial Medical Center, St. Vincent Hospital, Milford Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess in Boston, Newport Hospital in Rhode Island, and hospital in California and Montana.
The US Bureau of Labor lists registered nurses among the the top occupations for job growth in its 2019-2029 projections, in part due to a historic demand.
The Dean of the Froelich School of Nursing, Caitlin M. Stover, RN, Ph.D., said described the graduating class as “remarkable women and men” who “will lead, excel, and innovate in our healthcare systems and our communities and will be vital to transforming the future of healthcare.”
Assumption also said that enrollment for its next class of nursing students increased by over 200 percent.
