Boating Accident Leads to Drowning in Electric Pond in Auburn

Update, September 18, 10:15 AM: According to the Auburn Fire Department, divers have located the victim of the accident last night on Electric Pond. The victim has been removed from the water.

Update, September 18: Members of the District 7 Regional Dive Team, Massachusetts State Police Dive Unit and the Massachusetts Environmental Police were at Electric Pond Friday morning to continue the search for a missing victim in a boating accident last night.

Update, September 17, 11:45 PM: The Auburn Fire Department are reporting that they have confirmed a drowning victim in the water.

Dive operations have been suspended until the Friday morning.

AUBURN – The Auburn Fire Department is responding to a report of a boating accident near 288 Brynmawr Ave just after 6 PM on Thursday, September 17.

The Auburn Fire Department has reported “solid confirmation someone is in the water.”

A scuba team is also on the scene and first responders reportedly have a boat on the water at Dark Brook Reservoir, also known as “Electric Pond.”
