WORCESTER – Bar-top dining reopens in Worcester as of Monday, March 1.
The announcement came last week from City Manager Ed Augustus, Jr. during the City of Worcester COVID-19 media briefing in response to Governor Charlie Baker’s announcement that all cities and towns are allowed to advance to Phase 3, Step 2 of the State’s Reopening Plan on Monday.
The new step in the reopening plans lifts capacity restrictions on restaurants, although 6 feet of distance must still be maintained between tables, with six people limited to each table, and a 90-minute time limit in place for table dining.
Bar seating will be allowed with these restrictions in place.
Augustus said bar-top dining was allowed to resume in the city thanks to the continued downward trend of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in Worcester week over week. As of last week, six out of the seven previous weeks had seen a week over week decrease in the number of reported COVID-19 cases.
