WORCESTER – On March 2, the body of 68-year-old Marcelino Mueces was found in the basement of a home at 24 Penn Ave. in Worcester.
On Tuesday, Thomas Garon, 53, of Worcester was arrested and charged with Disinterment of a Body, Identity Theft, and Misleading a Police Investigation.

According to the Worcester Police Department [WPD], Mueces was reporting missing on Feb. 19 and officers located his vehicle on Villa Nova St. on Feb. 26. The vehicle was towed to the WPD for processing by the Crime Scene Unit.
WPD Detectives obtained a search warrant during the investigation for Garon’s home at 24 Penn Ave and executed the warrant on March 2. A Sergeant from the CSU uncovered Mr. Mueces’ remains. The Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy. Official ruling on the cause and manner of death are still pending.
Detectives continue to investigate. There is no further information at this time.
