If you’re looking to add something unique to your next office party, special occasion or any event you may find yourself entertaining large or small groups — whether virtually or in-person — you can now book Worcester’s own Sam James to perform for your friends, coworkers and family members.

“I’ve been taking tons of virtual bookings through the pandemic. People have hired me for something as small as an anniversary, or a company like [Samuel Adams Brewery] has hired me to play on a Zoom for 50 of their executives. It’s really helped me things afloat while I’m stuck,” James told ThisWeekinWorcester.com.

James – a singer-songwriter and a two-time contestant on NBC’s The Voice — has gone viral on social media since late 2019 thanks to his acoustic covers of hit singles from hip-hop and R&B artists. He now has more than 176,000 followers on Instagram, nearly 116,000 followers on TikTok and another 8,000 followers on Facebook.

In December, his cover of Megan Thee Stallion’s hit song, “Savage” was featured on Facebook’s “Peace Out 2020” special. Earlier this year, James’ covers were picked up on Spotify and Apple Music.

Like in his cover song viral videos, James has been performing his virtual bookings from the comfort of his own home.

“It’s actually been pretty amusing to host a concert from my living room. Especially the bigger companies. They usually do it on a Thursday or Friday for ‘happy hour,’ James said.

In 2019, James performed his original song, “Shinedown,” on NBC’s songwriting competition series Songland, saw another song he co-wrote c

James will join fellow Central Mass. native Ricky Duran for a show at The Hanover Theatre in Worcester on Saturday, September 18.
