66-year-old Braintree Man Dies in Crash on Pike in Millbury

MILLBURY – A 66-year-old man from Braintree died in Wednesday morning’s crash on the ramp from I-90 Eastbound to the Rt. 20 Connector in Millbury.

According to the Massachusetts State Police [MSP], a 2003 Toyota Land Cruiser, operated by Richard Nichols of Braintree, crossed over the media and struck a 2019 Isuzu Box Truck head-on.

The Isuzu was being driven by a 53-year-old man from North Providence, RI. The man was transported to UMass Memorial in Worcester by helicopter and is suffering from life threatening injuries.

Nichols was determined deceased at the scene.

As ThisWeekinWorcester.com reported, the ramp system on the Mass Pike at Exit 10A was closed for nearly four hours following the crash. It reopened around 1:30 PM.

The crash remains under investigation by the MSP.
