FITCHBURG - Fitchburg, Leominster, and Massachusetts State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash in Fitchburg on Friday, May 19, at around 8:45 PM.
The pedestrian, Mario Bratkon, 76, of Fitchburg, was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
According to Worcester County District Attorney Joe Early Jr.'s office, Brakton was walking in a crosswalk near Water Street and Nichols Street, near where Leominster and Fitchburg city lines meet. Police from both cities responded to the scene.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash remained on the scene after the incident.
