Worcester Man Arrested for Automatic Pistol

WORCESTER - Gunshots on Main Street late Thursday morning led to the arrest of a man who faces several weapons charges.

Police responded to Main Street and School Street on Thursday at around 11:30 AM in response to a report of a gunshot. The investigation led to police being on the lookout for white Toyota Camry.

At 9:40 PM on Thursday, an officer saw the Camry on Main Street and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle refused to stop and continued to Greenwood Street, where two individuals fled from the vehicle. The officer stopped to search for those who fled, but could not locate them.

The Camry was stopped by another officer on Southbridge Street a short time later. Only the driver, Chance Brown, 21, of Worcester, was in the vehicle.

Police located a loaded handgun with a defaced serial number which with a "Glock Switch," a device that makes a handgun fire as an automatic weapon, attached to the gun.

Brown faces charges of:

  • Unlawful Possession of a Machine Gun;
  • Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number;
  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License;
  • Carrying a Firearm without a License;
  • Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm;
  • Improper Storage of a Large Capacity Firearm;
  • Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device; and
  • Failure to Stop for Police.
