Boston Bruins winger Brad Marchand has been suspended for five games after he elbowed New Jersey Devils’ Marcus Johansson during the third period of Wednesday’s 3-2 win.

He will forfeit $373,475.61 in salary, but is expected to partake in the NHL All-Star Game this weekend.

The Bruins are already without defenseman Charlie McAvoy, who is recovering from a heart procedure.

Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, Marchand is a repeat offender and has been fined three times and suspended six times in his career.

He will be eligible to return to the ice on Feb. 7 when the Bruins visit the New York Rangers.
