LEICESTER – A man from Puerto Rico faces drug distribution charges after a police served a search warrant in Leicester.
On Monday, January 6, officers from the Leicester and Spencer Police Department assigned to the Western Worcester County Major Crimes Task Force and a police canine executed a search warrant at a Leicester home. During the search, police discovered a kilogram of cocaine, $4,000 in cash.
Police arrested Luis Daniel Burgos Cruz, 37, of Canovanas, Puerto Rico as a result of the search. He faces charges of:
- Trafficking in Cocaine (200 grams or more)
- Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Law
Police transported Burgos Cruz to East Brookfield District Court during the morning of Wednesday, January 8, for arraignment.
After a dangerousness hearing, the judge ordered Burgos Cruz held without bail. The judge schedule the next hearing in the case for January 14.
