CASTING CALL: Worcester’s Hanover Theatre Seeks Youth Actors for ‘A Christmas Carol’

WORCESTER – The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts is seeking youth actors to audition for a filmed production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

Rehearsals will take place beginning Tuesday, November 10.

The production will be directed and adapted by Hanover Theatre President and CEO, Troy Siebels.

These are the available youth roles: 

Belinda Cratchit / Fan

  • actor can be any age under 18
  • actor must look age 10-12
  • frail but cheerful and energetic

Timothy Cratchit / Newsboy

  • actor can be any age under 18
  • actor must look age 8-11
  • can go from timid to loud

Youth actors of all backgrounds and all levels of experience — including beginners — are encouraged to audition. If you have any questions about the information below, contact the Hanover Theatre at [email protected].

Dates:
Rehearsals: November 10 – 25
Tech/Dress Rehearsals: November 27-28
Filmings: November 29

Youth actors will be called to rehearse approximately one afternoon or evening and one or both weekend days each week.
Rehearsals and filming will be held in-person at the Jean McDonough Arts Center, located in downtown Worcester at 20 Franklin Street, 01608.

COVID-19 Safety Measures: 

  • Strict health and safety protocols will be implemented at the audition and the rehearsals / filming, including but not limited to temperature checks upon arrival, and wearing masks at all times except when auditioning / rehearsing on stage.
  • All staff and actors — ***including youth actors*** — will be tested for COVID-19 on a weekly basis at St. Vincent Hospital, at no cost to the youth actor / family.
  • No one outside the production team will be permitted in the theater or rehearsal room at any time.
