WORCESTER – Skies will be cloudy Thursday night and there will be some scattered shower activity after midnight as a much warmer air mass begins to move into the area. Low temperatures Thursday night will be near 40 degrees.

A warm and humid day is expected on Friday with high temperatures of near 70 Degrees. In addition to this, a cold front is expected to push across the region late in the afternoon on Friday. The combination of the warm & humid air, forcing from the cold front and some low-level wind shear will lead to scattered thunderstorms across Central Mass during early Friday evening. A couple of the thunderstorms may be on the strong to severe side with strong wind gusts & this is something that I will be keeping a very close eye on.

Right now, it looks like scattered thunderstorms, a couple of which may be strong to severe, will affect Central Mass between about 6 PM and 8 PM Friday.

Turning To This Weekend – Both Saturday and Sunday look sunny. High temperatures Saturday will be near 45 degrees. High temperatures Sunday will be between 40 and 45 degrees.

The other thing that I am keeping a close eye on is the possibility of accumulating snow on Monday Night. An area of low pressure is expected to pass near the south coast of New England during Monday night. There is expected to be just enough cold air around for the precipitation to fall in the form of snow across all of Central Mass.

So, it appears that snow will develop across Central Mass during Monday evening and then continue throughout Monday night. The snow will come to an end by about sunrise Tuesday morning.

Possible snow accumulations on Monday night are really tough to pin down at this point as it depends on the exact track of the low pressure system & how much moisture pushes through. I will say that I think that it is quite possible that there will be enough snow to shovel & plow.

I am keeping close tabs on this possible snowfall for Monday night and will update as needed.
